Vinca major, commonly known as bigleaf periwinkle or large periwinkle, is an evergreen perennial plant that grows up to 25 cm tall and spreads indefinitely. It is a trailing vine that roots along the stems, forming dense masses of groundcover. The leaves are glossy dark green with a leathery texture and entire but distinctly ciliate margins. The flowers are hermaphrodite, axillary, solitary, violet-purple, and 3–5 cm in diameter, with a five-lobed corolla.
