Verbascum thapsus, commonly known as great mullein or common mullein, is a biennial plant native to Europe, northern Africa, and Asia. It has been introduced to the Americas and Australia. The plant can grow up to 2 meters tall and features small, yellow flowers densely grouped on a tall stem. It is known for its hairy leaves and stems, which give it a silvery appearance. The plant produces a shallow taproot and is often found in disturbed soils, where it can appear quickly after the ground receives light.
