Tower mustard is a tall, slender plant with grey-green foliage and small creamy flowers at the top of the stem. It typically grows between 40 to 120 centimeters in height but can reach up to 1.5 meters under exceptional conditions. It is usually a biennial herb but can occasionally be a short-lived perennial. The plant has a tap-root and fibrous side-roots, with several erect, usually unbranched stems that are grey in the lower parts and green and hairless above. The leaves occur initially in a basal rosette and later grow alternately on the main stem and branches, with varying shapes and sizes.
