Canada goldenrod is a herbaceous perennial plant native to northeastern and north-central North America. It forms colonies of upright growing plants with many small yellow flowers in a branching inflorescence held above the foliage. The plant can grow from 2 to 6 feet tall with lanceolate to broadly linear shaped leaves that are alternately arranged on the stems. The plant is known for its aggressive growth habit, forming monocultures in some areas and spreading rapidly via running rhizomes. It is winter hardy in USDA zones 3–9.

Uses:

Canada goldenrod is good to fair as food for domestic livestock such as cattle or horses. It is also browsed by deer. The plant is visited by a wide variety of insects for its pollen and nectar, including bees, wasps, flies, beetles, butterflies, and moths. It is especially favored as a nectar source by bumblebees and paper wasps.
