Solanum villosum, commonly known as hairy nightshade, red nightshade, or woolly nightshade, is an annual weed that grows in Europe, western Asia, northern Africa, and has naturalized in Australia and North America. It is a sprawling plant that can reach up to 70 cm in height, with ovate leaves that are slightly to densely hairy. The leaf blade can be up to 8 cm long and 3-6 cm wide, with shallowly lobed or entire edges. The petioles can be up to 4.5 cm long and the inflorescence consists of clusters of 3-8 flowers. The corolla is white or may be purple-tinged, followed by dull light red or orange-yellow globular berries that are 5-9 mm in diameter. The seeds are pale yellow and measure between 1.7-2.3 mm long.
