Ranunculus repens, also known as creeping buttercup or sitfast, is a herbaceous perennial plant that grows to approximately 50 cm tall. It has both prostrate running stems, which produce roots and new plants at the nodes, and more or less erect flowering stems. The basal leaves are compound and divided into three broad leaflets, while the leaves higher on the stems are smaller with narrower leaflets. The flowers are golden yellow, glossy, and typically have five petals.
