Field Pepperwort

Field Pepperwort, also known as field peppercress or field pepperweed, is a biennial plant in the mustard family. It is native to Europe but has become an invasive weed in North America. The plant is characterized by its raceme of flowers that fork off the stem, which later develop into green, flat, and oval seedpods. The plant typically grows between 20 and 60 cm tall and is covered in small hairs.

The plant provides important ecosystem services as a cover crop during winter and can be undersown with spring cereals. The oil from field pepperwort is suitable for industrial applications such as the production of hydrotreated vegetable oil diesel (HVO).
