The leaves are large, soft, sharply toothed, sharp-lobed, and pointed, with a sticky hairy surface above and white woolly below. The plant produces almost perfectly spherical inflorescences up to 6 cm in diameter, packed with white or blue-gray disc florets. It flowers from June to September.
