Dictamnus albus, commonly known as the burning bush or dittany, is a herbaceous perennial plant that grows between 40 cm and 100 cm tall. It is native to warm, open woodland habitats in southern Europe, north Africa, and much of Asia. The plant features loose pyramidal spikes of flowers that range from pale purple to white, with five petals and long projecting stamens. The leaves resemble those of an ash tree.
