Chenopodium album, commonly known as lamb's quarters or white goosefoot, is a fast-growing annual plant. It can reach heights of 10–150 cm (4–59 in) and sometimes up to 3 meters. The plant has alternate leaves that are varied in appearance, with the lower leaves being toothed and roughly diamond-shaped, while the upper leaves are entire and lanceolate-rhomboid. The small flowers are radially symmetrical, grow in dense branched inflorescences, and are bisexual or female with five tepals.

Chenopodium album is rich in nutrients. It contains significant amounts of vitamin C, vitamin A, riboflavin, vitamin B6, manganese, and calcium. The plant is also high in water content (84%) and contains 7% carbohydrates, 4% protein, and 1% fat.
Chenopodium album is used as a vegetable in various regions, particularly in Asia and Africa. The young shoots can be eaten raw or cooked, and the leaves are preferable when cooked. The seeds are used in traditional dishes and fermented beverages. The plant is also used as animal feed and has been utilized in traditional medicine, although clinical evidence supporting its medicinal uses is lacking. It serves as a trap crop for leaf miners and is a host plant for the beet leafhopper, which transmits curly top virus to beet crops.
