Cerastium arvense, commonly known as Field Mouse-ear or Field Chickweed, is a widespread perennial herb that can grow up to 30-45 cm tall. It forms mats, clumps, or upright flowers and can grow from a taproot or tangled rhizomes. The plant is usually hairy, with glandular hairs. Its leaves are linear or lance-shaped and a few centimeters long. The inflorescence can be a single flower to a dense cluster of many. Each flower has five white petals, deeply bilobate with round tips, and ten yellow stamens. The fruit is a capsule up to 1.5 cm long with tiny teeth at the tip, containing several brown seeds.
