Barbarea vulgaris, commonly known as wintercress or winter rocket, is a biennial herb. It grows to approximately 80 cm in height and 25 cm in width. The stems are ribbed, hairless, and branched at the base, with basal rosettes of shiny, dark green leaves. The plant produces bright yellow flowers in dense clusters during spring, which are approximately 7–9 mm long. The flowers attract various insects and the plant has natural resistance to certain insect species.
