Sweet Woodruff is a perennial herbaceous plant that typically grows to a height of 25-50 cm. It often lies flat on the ground or is supported by other plants. The leaves are simple, lanceolate, and glabrous, measuring 2-5 cm in length. The small white flowers, about 4-7 mm in diameter, are produced in cymes and each has four petals joined at the base. The fruits are 2-4 mm in diameter and covered in tiny hooked bristles that aid in dispersal by attaching to clothing and animal fur.

Uses:

Sweet Woodruff is widely cultivated for its flowers and sweet-smelling foliage. It has been used in potpourri, as a moth deterrent, and to flavor various beverages and foods such as May wine, sweet juice punch, syrup for beer, brandy, jelly, jam, soft drinks (Tarhun), ice cream, and herbal tea. It has also been used medicinally but was banned in Germany for industrial uses due to coumarin toxicity concerns.
