Alisma lanceolatum
Alisma lanceolatum, commonly known as lanceleaf water plantain or narrow-leaved water plantain, is a perennial aquatic herb. It grows from a caudex in water or mud and typically reaches a height of about 0.7 meters with a spread of 0.25 meters. The leaves are lance-shaped, measuring 12 to 20 centimeters long and 4 wide on long petioles. Submerged leaves are smaller and less prominently veined. The inflorescence is mostly erect and can reach up to half a meter tall. It produces small pinkish-purple three-petalled flowers that open in the morning from June to August. The fruit is a tiny achene clustered into an aggregate fruit, and the seeds are reddish-brown and about 1.5 millimeters long.
