Plantago lanceolata L.
Ribwort Plantain
Ribwort Plantain is a perennial herb known for its rosette-forming growth habit. It has leafless, silky, hairy flower stems that can grow up to 45 centimeters tall. The basal leaves are lanceolate, spreading or erect, with parallel veins and a short petiole. The flower stalk is deeply furrowed and ends in an ovoid inflorescence of many small flowers, each with a pointed bract. Each inflorescence can produce up to 200 seeds. The flowers are small, with a green calyx and brownish corolla, and long white stamens. The plant reproduces both sexually via wind-dispersed pollen and occasionally through bee pollination.
