Artemisia vulgaris, commonly known as mugwort, is an aromatic, herbaceous perennial plant that grows up to 1.5 meters in height. It has purple-looking, angular stems and dark green, pinnate leaves with whitish tomentose hairs on the underside. The yellow or reddish flower heads appear from July to September and are arranged in a paniculate branching structure. The plant spreads through vegetative expansion and rhizome dispersal, rarely reproducing from seeds in temperate regions.
