Aria edulis (Willd.) M.Roem.
Aria edulis
Aria edulis, commonly known as the whitebeam or common whitebeam, is a deciduous tree characterized by its compact and domed shape. It often forms new shoots around the trunk and has a few upswept branches. The leaves have an almost-white underside, and the tree produces hermaphrodite cream-white flowers in May, which are insect pollinated. These flowers develop into scarlet berries that are often consumed by birds.
