Parthenocissus tricuspidata

Parthenocissus tricuspidata is a deciduous woody vine that can grow up to 30 meters tall with suitable support. It attaches itself using small branched tendrils tipped with sticky disks. The leaves are simple, palmately lobed with three lobes and can range from 5 to 22 cm across. The upper side of the leaf blade is shiny and bare, while the underside is dull green with sparse hairs on the veins. The leaf color changes from reddish-green to bronze during budding, and turns orange-yellow to intense scarlet in autumn. The flowers are greenish and inconspicuous, arranged in clusters. The fruit is a small dark blue grape measuring 5–10 mm in diameter. The plant has traditional medicinal uses in China and Korea, and is used as a culinary sweetener in Japan.
