Amelanchier ovalis, commonly known as snowy mespilus or serviceberry, is a deciduous shrub in the family Rosaceae. It is native to central and southern Europe, as well as North Africa and the Middle East. The species reaches heights of 3 to 5 meters with white flowers that develop between April and May. The fruits are small, spherical, ripening between July and August, and become black when ripe.
